Professional Background:

My name is Jade Choi, and I completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at La Trobe University in 2024. During my undergraduate studies (2023 – 2024), I was fortunate to work as a research assistant in Prof. Jason Dutton’s research group at La Trobe, where I developed fundamental research skills while contributing to the synthesis of iodine (III) oxidants. In 2025, I completed an Honours degree in Chemistry with the same research group. My honours project focused on the development and investigation of the oxidative capacity of novel iodine (V) compounds for C-H bond oxidation. The newly synthesised iodine (V) compound demonstrated promising oxidative activity towards electron-deficient phenol species.

Research Interests:

Following the completion of my Honours degree, I sought to further expand my knowledge in synthetic chemistry by commencing a PhD at the University of Melbourne under the supervision of Prof. Paul Donnelly in March 2026. My current research focuses on the development of rhenium-188 complexes for targeted radionuclide therapy in cancer treatment. The project aims to develop therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals that can serve as theragnostic pair to the clinically established technetium-99m imaging agents widely used in hospitals.
