Professional Background:
My name is Ben Jiang. I’m excited to study for a PhD degree at Monash University in 2025 under the supervision of Dr. Chris Ritchie and A/Prof David Turner. I had two years of research experience as a chemistry undergraduate student at the University of Queensland (UQ). During my Honours year, I learned to balance research with working as a lab tutor School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences (SCMB). My Honours project has been focused on elaborating dual catalyst photo-accelerated Sonogashira coupling reactions, by devising appropriate controls to benchmark the catalytic reactions and provide insight into the reaction mechanism.
Research Interests:
I am interested in photochemistry, organometallic, and transition metal chemistry. Besides these interests in inorganic chemistry, I am also passionate about laboratory work. Not only working in the lab independently, but also interacting actively with other researchers as part of a team. My goal is to expand my inorganic chemistry knowledge and continue doing research during the PhD degree.
